Yes it is! No it's not! WTF??
![]() Is the sun to blame or not? |
My anti-global warming boss brought this article in the Telegraph to my attention: The truth about global warming - it's the Sun that's to blame and then I found this article reporting the same scientific research: Greenhouse Gases, Not Solar Activity, Cause of Global Warming.
It's news from a couple of years ago but having only just come across it I felt the urge to blog this HUGE contradiction within the media regarding climate change. I wonder how many times this happens?

Hi Lisa
Thought you might find this link useful for information on climate change -

Thanks Lamna - I have seen this website but can't find what I really want here - and that's the graph of Co2 emissions compared to human and activities and natural occurences - the one that David Attenborough walked all over in his recent documentary. Have you seen it online anywhere?
Also - I think this article shows pretty well that The Debate Is Over!
Cheers
L.

Well the title of the Telegraph article certainly is sensationalist; the article goes on to contradict the title.
...Perhaps sales were slow in mid-2004.

Hi Lisa,
I take it the graph you are refering to was not Hadley Centre data?
Was it in the first or the second part of DA's documentary? I have the notes I made while watching the second part but at the moment cannot locate the notes I made during the first part.
I have the bad habit of scrawling notes on the back of used envelopes and then cannot find the envelope I want in my rather haphazard filing system. Its in there somewhere but hiding! :o)
Hopefully the BBC will release 'Are We Changing Planet Earth?' on DVD (they did release 'State of the Planet' after transmission) because I want to go through it again, in detail.

Hi Lisa,
I have been doing some research and I think the graph was based around the work of Professor Michael Mann and what is often referred to as the 'hockey stick' theory.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3569604.stm
It also included data for an expected 'background' or natural climate variation model, for the critical recent decades. But so far I haven't managed to track down the exact graph.
Will post it if I can find it.

I got a suspicion that your anti-global warming boss was yanking your cord. Maybe not; you decide.
Ya think so ? Maybe getting all teary-eyed and gaspy, or whatever you do*, and telling him/her that s/he doesn't care about you or the world is the approach of choice.
*Yeah; knowing you, L, and how you might like to write that asterisk in a different context, I'm betting that your anti-global warming boss is having some fun with you.
Blow the steam here, cookie.
Peace, Joy, Light, and Pretzels if you like them,

Hi Lisa,
Listenin's pathetic trollish gibbering was a tiresome feature of the old Greenpeace cyber activist discussion site, I see nothing has changed.
If Listenin wants to contribute reasoned debate fine, otherwise I hope the moderation on your blog will be vigorously anti-muppet.

Lamna - I apprecaitte your concerns but I don't consider listenin a troll. He/ she has a unique style of posting and sometimes I don't understand it but I don't take the posts to be offensive and consider listenin a cyber-friend whose comments I welcome.
Listenin thinks my boss is winding me up cos I am easy to wind up ... sadly though my boss is deadly serious about this stuff and thinks "State of Fear" is a GOOD READ! with GOOD POINTS AND FACTS!!!
:oO

Hi Lisa,
Incohate streams of consciousness are not my cup of tea but I respect your judgement.

You got the gist of it, Lisa. Thanks for the simple "I don't understand"; they seem important words amongst cyber-friends.
Well, We here finally got a little break from 2 weeks of rain; I'm trying a triple row of potatoes this year, wanting to get back to mulching them. Perhaps I'll send you photos if you're interested.
Peace
